It’s been a few weeks since we bid Ted Lasso goodbye. Not gonna lie, I miss getting the weekly notification that a new episode is available. You’ll be missed Ted, Rebecca, Roy, Beard, Jamie, Keeley, et al. As a small token of my appreciation, I’d like to take a moment to thank the gang for the past 3 years.
Dear Coach Lasso and the AFC Richmond Family,
How do I begin to express my gratitude for the hours we’ve shared with you and yours in the last few years? There are so many things about our time together that I’m thankful for and I think the easiest way to handle this is one of my infamous lists. So here we go:
Thank you for making me laugh.
Thank you for making me cry.
Thank you for sharing your vulnerability.
Thank you for your dogged devotion to your family – both blood (Henry) and football (AFC Richmond.)
Thank you for your ability to forgive those that have hurt you.
Thank you for your willingness to see the very best in those around you.
Thank you for demonstrating that we can choose to confront things that scare us.
Thank you for your accurate portrayal of what it’s like to live with anxiety and the scars of your past.
Thank you for being courageous enough to begin the difficult journey of improving your mental health.
Thank you for encouraging others to be the best possible versions of themselves.
Thank you for not giving into the temptation to lean into tried and true troupes.
Thank you for providing a window into the often difficult father/son relationship, particularly for allowing Nate’s father to explain his side of that story.
Thank you for the magical trip that was a night with Beard. I don’t care what the haters say (ahem, Mr. Brown), it was a fantastic ride.
Thank you for exposing the difficult balance strong, successful women have to find making their way in a male dominated world such as professional football. Rebecca is a bad ass boss lady, yet still a lady.
Thank you for giving me people to root for.
Thank you for the time I got to spend with my husband in your world. It was hard not to cheat when he was gone, but I managed to do it!
And finally, thank you for leaving me satisfied with your conclusion, but still with room for more if you decide to keep going.
Sincerely,
A Non-sports loving fan
