It’s been a couple of months now since I returned to this space. Thankfully, I’ve watched my readership slowly increase. Some weeks are lower than others, but the trend is up so I’m claiming that as a win. But I could not have accomplished that without all of you. I wanted to take a moment to say thank you.
Firstly, thank you for spending some time with me each week. Writing is a solitary endeavor, at least before it’s time for The Editor to take a look. (She always makes it better.) I often feel as if I write into a void. That all changes every time I see one of your likes or comments. I appreciate each and every one of them. Thank you for your responsiveness!
Secondly, I can’t tell you how excited I am every time I see that one of you has not only liked my post, but then gone on to share it. It does a fledgling writer more good than you can ever know. It seems to be such a simple thing, but it is huge for me. And also helps me long term. If I ever hope to publish another book, I have to demonstrate that I have a “platform” full of people that will, hopefully, want to buy my book. Publishers look at how many eyeballs are on what I already produce and factor that into their publishing decision. The more shares, the more eyeballs. The interwebz are big business and control more of my life than I’d like, but that’s the reality.
Thirdly, thank you to all of you who have taken the time to subscribe to my blog on my website. And thanks also for clicking the link in the email you get. When I query a publisher I can add those subscriber numbers to my “platform” numbers. If you’re not a subscriber yet, I’d love it if you’d add your name to the list. I promise I don’t send many emails – just the notification that WordPress automatically sends when I post something new.
Finally, the ‘Please’ part. I could really, pretty please with a mountain of sugar on top, use help getting my posts in front of more eyeballs. The Facebook algorithm is a beast – and that’s where you come in! Every time you like, comment and/or share my post it gives the gatekeepers at Meta (Facebook’s parent) more proof that my posts deserve to show up in my friends’ feeds. It only takes a moment of your time, but it makes a huge difference to my reach!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Your support and encouragement keep me going on the days that the blinking cursor taunts me from an empty page for a long time. Without you, this little project of mine would have been over a long time ago.
PS – Before I leave you alone I have one more request. If you see my posts on multiple platforms I’d greatly appreciate it if you would like, share, retweet, etc. from each of those. Nobody says multiple clicks from the same person don’t count in the total. 🙂
Have a great day and don’t forget to like, share, comment and subscribe. It does a writer good. Thanks!!
Always enjoy your insights, Shannon, and your gift of humor.
Thank you!!!!
